Agartala: Tripura Chief Minister Manik Saha paid tribute to composer Sachin Dev Burman on October 1. The event took place at Rabindra Shatabarshiki Bhawan to mark the singer's birth anniversary. Saha celebrated Burman as a generational inspiration. He praised the musician for rejecting his royal upbringing in favor of his own hard work.
"Sachin Dev Burman belonged to the royal family. Everything was available to him, but he left all that behind and created his own identity through his work," Saha said. The Chief Minister noted that Burman combined folk traditions with Dhrupad and Hindustani classical music to forge his style.
Burman started his career in Kolkata before finding fame in Mumbai. He became an influential force in Indian cinema. His music reaches global audiences today. Saha expressed pride in the state's connection to the artist. The government is now working to preserve the house linked to his history. Saha urged local youth to mirror Burman's self-confidence and commitment to their own craft. He reminded the crowd that music stays in everyone’s heart.
