Agartala: Tripura Chief Minister Manik Saha rolled out 178 crore worth of development projects in South Tripura on July 31. These initiatives cover healthcare, education, road work, and tribal welfare. They aim to boost public services across the district.
Saha pushed a clear message at the event in Santirbazar. He took a sharp jab at opposition leaders who claim the state is stagnant. He suggested they need to "undergo cataract surgery" to actually see the progress happening on the ground.
The Chief Minister pointed to the recent Destination Tripura Business Conclave as proof of momentum. The two-day summit drew 1,200 investors, smashing the initial estimate of 500. Officials logged 466 memoranda of understanding worth 1.29 lakh crore. This dwarfs last year’s 30,000 crore in proposals, with 8,000 crore of that work already underway.
Saha claims the Gross State Domestic Product has doubled in six years. He credited the Centre’s Act East Policy for infrastructure gains. These include full electrification and broad-gauge rail links reaching Sabroom. The government has also expanded coverage for national programs like PMGSY, PMAY, Ayushman Bharat, Jal Jeevan Mission, and PM-KISAN. In the last two years alone, South Tripura has seen 406 crore in project investments.
