Kohima: Tizit Area Students’ Union (TASU) launched a massive cleanup drive on July 24 to clear debris following flash floods that ravaged L/Lampong, Tizit Village, and Tizit Town on July 19. The operation began with a prayer at the Local Ground in Tizit Headquarters. Volunteers then swarmed community spaces, school campuses, public streets, and the homes of impacted families to remove waste.
Multiple student groups joined the effort. The Tizit Town Students’ Union, Lapa Lampong Students’ Union, and Tizit Village Students’ Union provided the muscle. Well-wishers and local volunteers also showed up in force. The District Administration backed the mission by providing vehicles to haul away the trash. TASU praised the administration for the assist.
The union remains focused on public health. They issued a formal request to the Primary Health Centre in Tizit. They want the facility to "remain fully prepared with adequate medical personnel, medicines and emergency equipment to ensure the health and safety of the people."
TASU also sent a plea to the state government. They want officials to step in now with relief and recovery support for those hit by the flood. Citizens should keep helping their neighbors in need.
