Guwahati: Ten youths from the Kachakhaity area of the Samaguri constituency have finally made it home to Assam. They fled rising tensions in Meghalaya and returned to their families in the Nagaon district. But many others from Rupohihat remain stuck across the border. They are still waiting for help to get out.

The returnees are pointing fingers at local leadership. One youth claimed that Samaguri MLA Tanzil Hussain ignored their plight during the crisis. The group says they reached out for help on social media. They identified themselves as residents of his constituency, yet heard nothing back. The youth stated, "Samaguri MLA Tanzil Hussain did not enquire about their situation or extend any assistance during their stay in Meghalaya."

The mood changed when talking about those who actually stepped up. The youths offered thanks to BJP leader Anil Saikia and the Assam Police. These two parties coordinated the efforts to bring the residents back to safety. Border relations remain volatile. Travel between the two states has become dangerous and difficult for locals.
