Guwahati: Criminals are targeting Rangaloo. Thieves drained 140 litres of diesel from a dumper parked at a private residence during the night of August 23. The truck, registration AS07 AC 3201, stood vulnerable in the yard. Before opening the fuel tank, the suspects assaulted the owner's dog to keep it silent.
The victim discovered the empty tank and spilled fuel the next morning. Residents claim this is part of a worsening crime wave in Nagaon district. Local reports suggest a pattern of thefts involving motorcycles, cattle, and shop goods. Neighbors blame the surge on illicit gambling and drug dens.
Locals want change. They are demanding that the administration identify the culprits and ramp up police patrols during the dark hours. They also want officials to shut down the gambling and drug hubs they believe fuel the local disorder. Residents are now turning to higher authorities for help. According to the report, "Residents have further alleged that the increasing presence of illegal drug and gambling activities in the area may be contributing to the rise in criminal incidents." The community is now calling on Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma to intervene and restore order.
