Government official killed in Nagaon hit-and-run

Guwahati: Mafidul Islam died on August 22 following a violent road accident at Kadamoni Hussain Market in the Batadrava area of Assam's Nagaon district. Islam, a GRS official attached to the Kathoguri Gaon Panchayat, was riding his motorcycle toward Dhing from Nagaon when the crash occurred.

An unidentified four-wheeler slammed into the back of his bike, which bore the registration number AS02AA9485. The collision left Islam with critical injuries. He died while being transported to a hospital for emergency treatment.

The driver did not stop. The vehicle fled the scene immediately after the impact. Batadrava Police arrived shortly after the crash to secure the area and begin an investigation. Officers are now working to identify and track down the vehicle involved in the fatal collision.
