Samaguri Police Face Backlash Over Refusal to File Minor's Case

Guwahati: Tension gripped Samaguri Friday night after locals accused police of ignoring a complaint from a mother concerning her minor daughter. The incident stems from claims that a man lured the girl into a relationship under false pretenses. Protesters gathered at the Samaguri police station in the Nagaon district to demand answers.

Local Hindu organizations claim officers flatly refused to log the report. Instead of filing the girl's case, police allegedly pressured the family to register a theft complaint. One local observer stated that "some people approached the Samaguri police station and submitted a complaint regarding the incident on Friday night."

Witnesses report that station staff acted poorly during the confrontation. They allegedly mistreated group members who showed up to support the mother. Authorities have not yet offered a comment on the claims or the officer-in-charge's handling of the files. The community remains on edge as questions persist about why no investigation started.
