Guwahati: Union Minister Sarbananda Sonowal ripped into the Congress and its INDIA bloc partners on Thursday, November 5. He spoke in Siliguri to criticize their long-standing governance track record. He accused the opposition of pushing misinformation to confuse voters. The minister claimed their primary motivation remains a raw obsession with control.
Sonowal targeted the long reign of the Congress at the Centre. He noted they held power for nearly 60 years yet ignored poverty and development. He also pointed at allies like the Trinamool Congress. Many have run states for 15 to 20 years without fulfilling campaign promises. "What has suddenly happened to the Congress? People across the country are discussing this. The Congress ruled for nearly 60 years, while its allies in the INDIA bloc, including the TMC and other parties, have governed their respective states for 15 to 20 years. Yet, what has become of them today?" Sonowal asked.
He did not hold back. The minister blamed the Congress for numerous deaths under its watch. He alleged the party actively worked to weaken democratic institutions. Congress leaders now stumble when faced with tough questions about their history. They cannot answer for their own political records.
