Gangtok: Police in Sikkim are investigating the killing of a pet dog in Yangsum village. Bharat Sanik Arvind, a local tenant, allegedly used an air gun to shoot the animal. The dog, named Rinkey, died at the scene. It was a brutal act.
Rupendra Gurung of Bimberay filed a formal complaint regarding the incident. He told authorities the attack occurred around 9:30 am on September 12. Dentam police registered FIR No. 0010/2026 shortly after the report arrived. Justice is pending.
Officers charged the suspect under Section 325 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita and Section 11(1) of the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Act. An investigating officer now leads the case. Police stated that "further inquiry is underway" as they gather more evidence from the village.
