Gangtok: Sikkim University is hiring five staff members for a state-funded research project in 2026. The study examines the socio-economic impact of self-help groups across Sikkim. The Sikkim Rural Livelihood Mission and the Rural Development Department of the Government of Sikkim are funding the initiative.
The school needs one Research Assistant and four Field Investigators. Candidates for the Research Assistant role must hold a postgraduate degree in Social Science with at least 55 percent marks. Preference goes to those with a PhD, NET, or SLET qualification. The university values applicants with expertise in gender studies and data tools like SPSS or Excel. The pay is 37,000 rupees per month. The Research Assistant will help with report writing.
Field Investigators require a postgraduate degree in Social Science or Human Sciences. These workers will earn 20,000 rupees monthly. Field experience and fluency in local languages are desirable traits for these positions.
