Imphal: Manipur University is hiring for two project roles under a three-year research study funded by the Department of Biotechnology. The project, titled Genomics-assisted improvement of scented rice from Assam (Joha) and Manipur for yield enhancement under stress and improved nutrition, needs staff for 2026.
The school needs one Field Attendant. Applicants must hold a B.Sc degree and show experience in greenhouse management and rice field work. The position pays Rs. 20,000 plus 9% HRA monthly. The age limit for this role is 50 years.
Researchers also need one Junior Research Fellow. Candidates require an M.Sc in Botany, Plant Sciences, or Biotechnology. They must also hold a CSIR-UGC NET qualification or have cleared a national-level exam conducted by central government departments. This includes candidates shortlisted under Category-II of the Biotechnology Eligibility Test (BET) 2026, which was notified on 13-06-2026. Experience in genomics and molecular biology is preferred.
The JRF pay starts at Rs. 37,000 plus 9% HRA for the first two years. This increases to Rs. 42,000 plus 9% HRA during the third year as an SRF.
Interested candidates must report to the Office Chamber of the Dean, School of Life Sciences, at Manipur University in Canchipur, Imphal, on 31.07.2026. Registration runs from 10.00 AM to 10.30 AM, with the interview starting at 10.30 AM. Applicants should bring a typed application on plain A4 paper with a passport-sized photo, plus original documents. As the university states: "Candidates must bring along the original copy of all the relevant certificates/mark sheets, etc., with an application neatly typed on a plain white A4 paper."
