Guwahati: Heavy rain since this morning flooded NH-27, stalling traffic at 9th Mile, 10th Mile, and Jorabat. Commuters faced immediate gridlock on both sides of the highway. The water rose fast.

Officials stepped in to manage the mess. Traffic police implemented mandatory diversions for all light motor vehicles, or LMVs, to keep things moving. Vehicles heading into Guwahati now divert at Digaru. Drivers leaving the city must turn at Koinadhara Point.

Authorities advised motorists leaving Guwahati to use the Narengi route as an alternative path. The state posted the advisory on social media platforms, including Facebook and X, to alert the public. "Traffic diversions have been implemented with immediate effect for light motor vehicles," officials stated.
