Guwahati: A landslide destroyed a residence in Guwahati's Mathgharia area on Tuesday morning. Three family members died in the collapse. The victims were Nagen Rajbongshi, Meena Rajbongshi, and their daughter, Chunu Rajbongshi. The family was asleep when the debris struck. Their son survived the disaster. Rescuers pulled him from the wreckage before medics rushed him to Gauhati Medical College and Hospital for treatment.

Heavy rain triggered the event. Downpours began early Tuesday and paralyzed the city. Officials are clearing rubble in the vulnerable hilly zones. City life has stalled. Artificial flooding choked major transit arteries, including the Narengi-Six Mile VIP Road.

Water levels hit knee-deep in sections between Barbari and Six Mile. Chandmari roads and footpaths disappeared under floodwaters. Locals struggle to move. Commuters faced similar gridlock in Panjabari and Beltola Survey. Authorities remain on high alert as the rain continues. Reflecting on the impact of the weather, one local official stated, "Rescue personnel and local authorities responded to the incident and undertook efforts to clear the debris and assist those affected."
