Guwahati: Heavy rains triggered landslides at five locations in Burhapahar on Saturday, August 8. The mud and rocks spilled onto the national highway in Nagaon district, stalling traffic throughout the morning. The road remains partially blocked.

Crews from the National Highways Authority of India and the Public Works Department arrived quickly. They deployed workers and heavy machinery to shift the debris. Progress stalled when a truck crashed at one of the work sites. No one got hurt in the wreck.

Rain continues to soak the region. Officials now warn of more slides in vulnerable areas. Commuters must drive carefully. As local authorities noted, "The situation was further complicated after a truck reportedly met with an accident at one of the landslide-affected locations during the ongoing clearance operations."
