Guwahati: Doomdooma MLA Rupesh Gowala walked the banks of the Kaliapani River this Saturday to scope out a plan for fixing recurring erosion. The river, which cuts through the Kaliapani area of Doomdooma town in Tinsukia district, has long been a source of local concern. Officials now want to lock down the banks and turn the shoreline into a public park.

Gowala examined the stretch personally to see how to stop the dirt from washing away. He also looked for ways to make the area a hub for residents. "Today, I inspected the area near the river in Kaliapani under Doomdooma town to review measures to prevent the erosion that occurs here from time to time, as well as the possibilities of beautifying the site in the future," he said.

The work aims to hit two targets. It keeps the ground stable while creating an attractive spot for people living in the constituency. This project puts the river back in the spotlight as a vital asset for the town. If the plan moves forward, the site could balance heavy engineering with a new space for the public to hang out.
