Guwahati: Assam Congress president Gaurav Gogoi wants to keep the Nagaon Lok Sabha seat. He campaigned at a rally in Batamari to push for candidate Sibamoni Bora. The party held this seat since 2019. Gogoi said the battle aims to protect constitutional rights and drive inclusive development.

The by-election follows the resignation of Pradyut Bordoloi. He left the Congress to join the BJP and now serves as an MLA. Voters head to the polls on October 6. Officials set the final vote count for October 9.

Imran Masood, a Lok Sabha MP from Uttar Pradesh, also spoke at the event. He told the crowd to stand together against the current government. Masood argued that the party must push back against what he called the ruling dispensation's "anti-people policies" while defending the Constitution.

Masood claimed voters would reject communal tension and side with the welfare issues raised by Rahul Gandhi. He emphasized that the struggle for justice reaches across the country. He believes Nagaon will join this movement by backing Bora.
