Guwahati: Assam Chief Electoral Officer Anurag Goel audited Morigaon district officials Saturday to ensure the Nagaon parliamentary bye-election runs smoothly. He scrutinized election management strategies and enforcement of the Model Code of Conduct. Security is a top priority. Goel met staff at the District Commissioner’s office to evaluate Flying Squad Teams and Static Surveillance Teams.

The Nagaon constituency heads to the polls October 6. Vote counting follows on October 9. Goel checked in on various election cells and demanded status updates from the ground team. He emphasized total operational readiness. Multiple top officials attended the briefing, including Zilla Parishad CEO Satyajit Chetia, District Commissioner Srishti Singh, and Senior Superintendent of Police Nishant Saurabh.

Co-District Commissioners Anurag Phukan and Hriday Kumar Das joined Additional District Commissioners Rakesh Deka, Uday Shankar Dutta, and Nilakhi Baishya at the session. Election Officer Gunjana Saikia and Assistant Commissioner Ankita Dutta rounded out the group.

Goel later walked through the designated strong room and counting centre at Morigaon College. His team inspected facility logistics and local security protocols to protect election materials. As Goel confirmed, the focus remains on "the safe custody of election materials and the smooth conduct of the counting process." Officials aim to leave nothing to chance.
