Gangtok: Torrential rain slammed Sikkim overnight, dumping debris across National Highway-10 at 20 Mile in Bardang. The road is now blocked. Vehicles sit stranded as the slide shut down the primary artery connecting the state to West Bengal.
Road clearance crews arrived on the scene to haul away the mud and rock. They are working to restore traffic flow as the storm continues to lash the area. Officials are scanning nearby sections of the highway for more landslides or secondary damage.
NH-10 serves as a lifeline for commuters, tourists, and commercial trucks hauling essential supplies. Any disruption here ripples across the state. Authorities warned drivers to stay alert. "Drivers have been advised to exercise caution while travelling through vulnerable stretches until the road is fully cleared and declared safe for movement."
