Gangtok: Sikkim Lok Sabha MP Indra Hang Subba met with Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw at Rail Bhawan on October 1. He demanded immediate movement on the proposed Rangpo to Ranipool railway line. The MP wants faster sanctioning and execution to secure the state's connectivity goals.

Subba also pressed for the swift completion of the ongoing Melli to Dentam railway line survey. He wants the Railway Ministry to rush the following phases of that project. Sikkim sits on a strategic international border. Reliable rail lines serve more than just local commuters.

Better rail access shifts goods, opens new markets, and boosts trade and tourism. It links directly to local jobs and new business ventures. Subba believes these infrastructure gains will build a self-reliant economy. "Railway will become Sikkim's future growth accelerator and facilitator as we embark on creating a self-reliant economy," Subba said. He expects these projects to generate long-term development for the region.
