Guwahati: Garima Saikia Garg is rallying supporters for a peaceful protest at Zubeen Kshetra. The event begins at 11 am on October 12. She wants a united front to push for justice regarding the death of her husband, Assam icon Zubeen Garg. She posted the appeal online using the hashtag #JusticeForZubeenGarg.

Public pressure is mounting after recent bail rulings. The Gauhati High Court granted bail to accused singer Amritprabha Mahanta on October 9. She posted a Rs 50,000 bond and provided two sureties of the same amount. This bail does not clear her of wrongdoing. The case remains active in the trial court.

Legal battles persist for others. The Supreme Court delayed the bail hearing for event organizer Shyamkanu Mahanta until November 4. Meanwhile, a special fast-track court in Guwahati continues to hear the main case. Prosecutors have started recording testimonies from witnesses based in Singapore. The state government confirmed the progress.

Separately, former security officers Paresh Baishya and Nandeshwar Bora remain in custody. A special court granted them bail on September 29 for a disproportionate assets case, but they stay locked up for the death case. A total of seven people face charges. Four are accused of murder. A special fast-track court framed these charges back in May.

Zubeen Garg, 52, died on September 19, 2025, after a yacht incident near Lazarus Island in Singapore. He was attending the North East India Festival. A Singapore state coroner ruled the death an accidental drowning on March 25, 2026. The inquiry found no evidence of foul play or coercion. Despite that, the criminal proceedings in Assam move forward. Garima is clear about her objective. "A peaceful call for justice by Zubeen Garg… Have a united voice!"
