Kohima: The State Agricultural Management and Extension Training Institute held a three-day workshop in Dimapur from September 3 to 5, 2026. The sessions focused on turning livestock management into a profit-making enterprise for farmers. Officials from the Department of Agriculture and ATMA functionaries attended to sharpen their skills on integrated farming.
Janet Chishi, deputy project director at SAMETI, led the opening session. Bodevi Shuya, director of SAMETI and principal of IETC, pushed for the expansion of livestock as a core income stream. "Bodevi Shuya, director SAMETI and principal IETC, emphasised the need to promote livestock management as a viable source of entrepreneurship, income generation and sustainable livelihood," the institute reported.
A diverse group of experts led the instruction. Trainers included Dr. T. Gyaneshori Devi from CoVSc and AH, CAU Jalukie, and local farm owner Imkumri Jamir. Attendees also heard from Dr. Mhatung of the Dimapur Chief Veterinary Office and T. Senchumo Yanthan of the Niuland R.D. Block. Scientists Dr. Laishram Sunitibala Devi from ICAR NRC on Mithun and Dr. Jyotish Barman from ICAR Jharnapani rounded out the panel.
The course wrapped up with feedback sessions and a formal evaluation. Shuya returned to deliver closing remarks before handing out certificates to the participants.
