Kohima: The East Dimapur Town Council issued a stern order on September 18 regarding livestock on major roads. Owners must keep cattle and other animals off National Highways, State Highways, and primary road networks. Stray animals cause crashes. They block traffic, destroy property, and kill people.
This directive follows mandates from the Government of Nagaland and the Supreme Court of India. Officials want these animals gone. Owners cannot leave livestock unattended or grazing near any carriageway. If you move animals across roads, you must maintain direct control and use designated crossings. Owners bear total responsibility for any hazards their livestock creates.
The council is working with various government departments to identify and clear high-risk areas. They will remove animals from the road. The EDTC urges the public to report stray livestock immediately. Residents must cooperate to keep traffic moving safely. "Violators will face action under the applicable rules and provisions of the law," the council warned.
