Guwahati: Police arrested two more suspected linkmen for the banned United Liberation Front of Asom-Independent in Dibrugarh. Four people are now in custody for the extortion scheme. Moranhat Police Station registered the case as C/N 51/26.

The two new suspects are Topubon Gogoi of Gozpuria Gaon and Gourob Gogoi of Padumoni Na Gaon. Officers previously detained Partha Protim Boruah, 31, and Abdul Sattar, 35. These men allegedly funneled cash and provided logistical support to the outlawed group. Investigators discovered the pair handed over contact details for wealthy targets in Moran and Dibrugarh. Businessmen faced direct threats.

Police say the operation involves an active cadre. "Further investigation is underway to identify and establish the remaining linkages in the case," officials stated. Authorities identified ULFA(I) member Abhilekh Sonowal as the primary handler who contacts the linkmen to squeeze cash from local business owners.

The suspects face severe charges under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita and the Unlawful Activities Prevention Act. Prosecutors filed the case under Sections 308(4), 308(5), 351(3), 61(2), and 3(5) of the BNS. They also cited Sections 10, 13, 16(1)(b), 17, 18A, 18B, 20, 39, and 40 of the UAPA.
