Guwahati: Pathsala residents are fed up. Piles of trash now choke the roadside throughout the town. These heaps attract packs of stray cows and dogs that scavenge through plastic bags and rot. The health risks are mounting.
Locals point to irregular collection schedules and the lack of designated storage spots as the primary drivers of the mess. Businesses are also under fire. Many shops operate without proper disposal plans, forcing owners to dump refuse into open spaces and public roads.
Resident Parshwa Patgiri sees the town suffering daily. "Several parts of the town have become dirty due to garbage being dumped along the roadsides. Many people continue to dispose of waste irresponsibly, making the situation worse. We appeal to the concerned authorities to ensure daily garbage collection and take strict action against those who litter and keep the roads dirty," Patgiri said.
Citizens want a fix. They are pushing officials to install more public dustbins and mandate functional waste management systems for all commercial buildings. The community warns that if the authorities ignore these requests, the environmental and sanitary crisis will only worsen.
