Kohima: The East Dimapur Town Council issued a stern warning today regarding unpaid residential sanitation fees. Officials declared they will halt trash collection for households and wards that refuse to settle their debts. Mounting dues now threaten the basic sustainability of local public cleanliness operations.
The Council issued a formal notice on July 29 after repeated payment reminders went ignored. While the agency continues to provide regular garbage collection, it claims many wards have stopped paying entirely. The administration described this non-payment as a "neglect of civic responsibility" that hampers their daily work.
Residents must pay their outstanding balances immediately. The Council has offered no grace period or extension for those in arrears. Future service suspension will happen without further warning, and the town council refuses to accept liability for any resulting public health issues or inconvenience. Officials expect citizens to clear these debts to protect the "larger interest of public health and cleanliness."
