Passengers Slam Neglect at Assam’s Juria Railway Station

Guwahati: Juria Railway Station in Assam is falling apart. Passengers in the Nagaon district report a total lack of basic facilities at the site, which once served as a primary transport hub for the local community. The station currently suffers from dim lighting, unusable toilets, and filthy conditions.

Commuters rely on the station daily, but neglect has made travel miserable. Staff rarely show up to work the ticket counter. Residents of Juriya and nearby areas now face the added burden of traveling all the way to Nagaon just to buy a simple ticket. The systemic abandonment of the property by the Railway Department has pushed locals to demand an immediate fix.

The public wants functional amenities restored fast. Specifically, they need reliable electricity, clean restrooms, and consistent staffing to handle daily operations. One group of passengers noted the ongoing struggle, stating, "The station’s current condition has caused considerable inconvenience to ordinary commuters and called for the authorities to address the issues without further delay."
