Kohima: Metseruyi Tetseo, a vocational trainer and senior instructor with Lend A Hand India in Kohima, traveled to Shanghai, China, to attend the 48th WorldSkills Competition. The event took place from September 22 to 27 at the National Exhibition and Convention Center. Tetseo joined fellow LAHI staff to witness 1,385 competitors from 68 countries demonstrate their abilities across 64 skill categories.
He watched experts tackle challenges in CNC milling, carpentry, plumbing, robotics, and chemical laboratory technology. The competition showcased Industry 4.0 trends, emphasizing automation, digital tools, and precision machinery. Tetseo noted that the experience highlighted "the importance of strengthening hands on learning among students, with emphasis on precision, safety, problem solving, quality standards, time management and independent practical work."
The trip offered a chance to see how international training methods might fit Nagaland. Tetseo plans to use these lessons to improve vocational teaching and build student confidence back home. The group also toured Shanghai landmarks like The Bund and Yu Garden. This visit blended technical training with cultural history to provide a wider look at global development.
