Kohima: Nagaland Governor Nand Kishore Yadav and Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio extended formal greetings to the Khiamniungan and Pochury communities. The state leaders issued messages recognizing the traditional harvest festivals of Tsokum and Yemshe.
Yadav spoke on the significance of Tsokum. He noted that the festival reflects the Khiamniungan community’s respect for tradition, gratitude for nature’s bounty, and spirit of unity. He hopes the celebration strengthens peace, harmony, and mutual respect while preserving cultural values. Regarding the Pochury festival, Yadav stated that Yemshe represents harvest, thanksgiving, and cultural heritage. He wished for prosperity and happiness for the community.
Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio took to social media to share his thoughts. He posted on X, describing Tsokum as marking the beginning of the harvest season and Yemshe as welcoming the new harvest. Rio wished for bountiful harvests, good health, peace, renewed hope, and unity. He noted, "the celebration would strengthen unity, preserve heritage and inspire hope for a prosperous future."
