Kohima: Governor Nand Kishore Yadav, Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio, and Deputy Chief Minister Y. Patton sent their formal greetings to the Sangtam community for the Mungmung festival on September 2. State leadership highlighted the event as a vital moment for thanksgiving.
Governor Yadav called the celebration a reflection of the heritage and values of the Sangtam people. He argued that these traditions help protect indigenous identities for future generations. He expects the event to bring harmony and peace to every home.
Chief Minister Rio took to social media to share his message. He wished the community good health and a bountiful harvest. He specifically noted the need for togetherness, stating that he hopes "the spirit of togetherness associated with the celebration would grow stronger."
Deputy Chief Minister Patton focused on the meaning behind the name. Mungmung signifies togetherness forever. He believes the event will bolster friendship and goodwill throughout Nagaland.
