Kohima: The District Planning and Development Board wrapped up its adoption initiative for the 11 Northern Angami II Assembly Constituency on October 12. Officials and residents gathered at Kijumetouma Village for the exit programme. It signaled the end of the board's formal oversight. The initiative focused on bringing government services directly to the local population through coordinated departmental work.

Vekusheyi Rhakho, the ADC of Chiephobozou and convener of the Village Adoption Committee, led the keynote address. He thanked Chief Minister Dr. Neiphiu Rio for his support of the project. The committee chair highlighted the need for local engagement. "While the government facilitates, departments support and committees coordinate, the ultimate success of development rests with the people," Rhakho said. He urged women and youth to step up in village affairs to help shape their future.

Rhakho clarified that this exit event is not a breakup. It is a transition to a new phase of cooperation. He asked for the village's help with upcoming tasks like the District Census Handbook, the Special Intensive Revision, and the Population Enumeration. Village Council chairman Chasalhou Theünou thanked the departments for their past work and asked for more help moving forward.

The board handed out gear to the residents during the event. They distributed chairs, sports equipment, agricultural seeds, and a sewing machine. DEO Khriengu chaired the meeting. Pastor Pelesatuo Yase led the invocation. Pekruzetuo Yase delivered the welcome remarks, and Er. Semasie Katiry offered the vote of thanks.
