Kohima: Seyochung village and Akashvani Kohima marked the 2026 Mungmung festival with a joint event in Seyochung. Villagers, visitors, and members of the Seyochung Village Union gathered from various towns to observe the festivities. The day highlighted the heritage of the Sangtam community through folk songs and physical challenges.
Performers presented Phishu Khidong, Longmikhi, Machi Khidong, and Furu Thsu Khudong. Traditional games included Xuh la Murakuduba bamboo pole climbing, Rangshu zing mulitaba tug-of-war, Mihlaa mulihtaba fire ignition, and Shong ngumulitaba top-spinning. It was a massive turnout. Seyochung Village Council Chairman Lichothri Sangtam noted that the collaboration with Akashvani Kohima bolsters efforts to promote local traditions.
Akashvani Kohima officials toured the Singtra mithun farm during their stay. They called the experience "extraordinary" and commended the local commitment to cultural preservation. The broadcasters invited Seyochung cultural groups to record in Kohima, offering to cover all travel and production costs. Attendees noted the event provided a necessary boost to village tourism and local income streams.
The organizing committee thanked brand partners, volunteers, and supporters for the successful gathering. The event ended with a push to continue safeguarding tribal heritage while fostering regional cooperation.
