BJP Leader Demands Probe Into Failed Garo Hills Planning Campaign

Shillong: Tura BJP leader and MDC Bernard N Marak is pushing Deputy Chief Minister Prestone Tynsong to intervene. The Garo Hills Autonomous District Council failed to execute the government-mandated People’s Plan Campaign on October 2. No Gram Sabha sessions took place across GHADC areas or blocks. Elected officials received no notice. No proceedings hit the online portal.

This federal campaign exists to inject public input into local infrastructure projects. By ignoring the mandate, authorities cut residents out of the planning process. Marak noted, "The last meeting was held on September 26, 2025," yet nothing has happened since. He now demands that Tynsong force GHADC and block officials to restart the process with actual transparency.

Marak wants a tripartite meeting held in Tura immediately to address the administrative freeze. He warned that if the government continues to ignore these compliance requirements, he will take the fight to court.
