Lend A Hand India Trainer Tours WorldSkills Competition in Shanghai

Kohima: Metseruyi Tetseo traveled to China last month. The Lend A Hand India vocational trainer visited the 48th WorldSkills Competition at the National Exhibition and Convention Center in Shanghai. The event ran from September 22 to 27, bringing together 1,385 competitors from 68 countries. They faced off in 64 different skill categories.

Tetseo toured the site with a delegation of colleagues. They watched experts perform in fields like CNC Milling, Carpentry, Plumbing and Heating, and Robotics. The team also examined Water Technology and Chemical Laboratory Technology setups. They witnessed how digital tools and automation drive Industry 4.0 standards.

The trip highlighted the need for precision, safety, and high-quality standards in vocational classrooms. Tetseo plans to adapt these global teaching methods to help students in Nagaland. The group noted that international practices must be modified to fit local resource limits. "The experience underscored the importance of strengthening hands-on learning with a focus on precision, safety, problem-solving, and quality standards among students," the report stated.

The delegation spent their downtime touring Shanghai landmarks. They walked through The Bund and Yu Garden. They also explored the city's commercial districts to see how China blends ancient tradition with rapid urban growth. LAHI aims to use this exposure to boost professional confidence and practical skill development for young people back home.
