Kohima: SCERT Nagaland wrapped up a three-day training session on October 30 in Kohima. The workshop focused on the Kaushal Bodh vocational program for middle school classes. Teachers from 46 PM SHRI schools and eight District Institutes of Education and Training attended the event. It is a big shift for local schools.

Kaushal Bodh aligns with the National Education Policy 2020 and the National Curriculum Framework for School Education 2023. It targets students in classes six through eight. The program aims to move pupils away from rote memorization and toward hands-on problem solving. It organizes work into three main domains: life forms, machines and materials, and human services.

During the opening, Joint Director Woshamo pushed for a shift in how classrooms function. He said educators must focus on the learning process instead of "merely the final outcome" to foster teamwork and critical thinking. He also noted the dignity of labor and the need for DIET staff to help spread this training across the state.

Participants spent three days building skills. Day one covered basic curriculum planning and 30-hour project roadmaps. Day two moved into hands-on work with toys, tie-dye, and project design. The final day included a Cooking without Fire session and instructions on monitoring formats. Facilitators from Lend A Hand India, Nehali Ayare and Avanti Gajanan Harne, led the training. Officials from the Directorate of School Education, Samagra Shiksha Nagaland, and the Nagaland Board of School Education also sat in to observe the progress.
