Kohima: Phek Superintendent of Police Dr. Pritpal Kaur started Project Revive on July 25. The program offers livelihood training to inmates at the Phek District Jail. It functions as a partnership between the police, KVK-ICAR Phek, and the Phek District Legal Service Authority. The project seeks to help prisoners build honest careers once they finish their sentences.
Dr. Kaur addressed the inmates during the launch. She told them to change their paths. "The training program would aid in the rehabilitation of inmates, enabling them to earn an honest living after overcoming past mistakes and temptations." She wants them to contribute to a peaceful society.
Dr. Sanjeev Kumar Singh, the Senior Scientist and Head of ICAR-KVK Phek, laid out future plans for agricultural training. Dr. T Esther Longkumer, the Chief Technical Officer for Soil Science, led the technical session. She taught the inmates about vermicomposting and sustainable work skills while providing the necessary supplies.
Jailor Nukhochiyi Tetseo chaired the event. Shevi Neikha provided the invocation. Sekhotso Rokha, a retainer lawyer for the Phek District Legal Service Authority, gave the welcome address. The day finished with hands-on training sessions meant to motivate the inmates toward hard work.
