Nagaland University to Host Major Climate and Biodiversity Conference

Kohima: Nagaland University is hosting a two-day national conference focused on biodiversity conservation and climate resilience. The event runs October 6 to 7 in Lumami under the theme Strategies for a Sustainable Future. Vice-Chancellor Prof Jagadish Kumar Patnaik released the official brochure on August 21 alongside the organizing committee.

The Department of Environmental Science is running the show. They have partnered with the Forest and Biodiversity Management in Himalaya Project, the Nagaland State Biodiversity Board, and Lemsachenlok, Longleng. Patnaik believes the meeting is vital for the region. He noted, "The conference would provide a platform for researchers, academicians, policymakers, conservation practitioners and students to deliberate on emerging environmental challenges and sustainable solutions."

Conference convener Prof Ashutosh Tripathi expects experts from many fields to attend. These specialists will share expertise and map out new strategies for the region. Organizers want to boost knowledge exchange and drive better policy development. They invited faculty, students, government officials, and NGO workers to join the discussions. Registration and abstract submissions must arrive by September 15.
