Nagaland University and Lions Club Host Campus Tree Drive

Kohima: Nagaland University and the Lions Club Kohima teamed up for a tree plantation drive on October 2. The event occurred at the Kohima campus during the Swachhata Hi Seva 2026 campaign. It followed the theme Ek Ped Ma Ke Naam. The organizers focused on environmental health.

Pro Vice Chancellor Prof N Venuh served as the special guest. He pushed for selecting trees that nourish the soil instead of those that degrade it. The event aimed to build a greener future. It relied on student participation to ensure the effort took root.

Lions Club President Er Talitemsu Jamir outlined his group's mission. They provide disaster aid and back community welfare. He signaled an interest in working with the university again. Secretary Max Menuse-O spoke about his time as an NSS volunteer. He told students to dedicate their energy to public good. "He emphasised the value of community service and urged the students to actively participate in initiatives contributing to society and the environment."

Er Shanchamo Yanthan chaired the event. Dr Rashmi gave the welcome address. She noted why student involvement matters. Dr Ratan Kaurinta offered the final thanks. Volunteers and officials spent the rest of the day planting trees across the campus grounds.
