Kohima: Nagaland authorities have blocked drone flights near major Independence Day celebration sites. Police in Dimapur and Kohima issued orders designating 2-km radius no-fly zones for all unmanned aircraft. Security remains the top priority. These restricted areas aim to prevent potential threats or interference during the national holiday.

Dimapur Commissioner of Police Aotula T. Imchen established the ban for the DDSC Stadium, Chümoukedima Samaguting Stadium, and Niuland Public Ground. Restrictions in Dimapur run from 2 am to 6 pm on August 15, 2026. The department issued the order ex parte to address urgent security needs. Imchen noted, "The order was issued ex parte in view of the security exigency, as serving individual notices to all concerned was not feasible."

In Kohima, the Senior Superintendent of Police declared the Nagaland Civil Secretariat Plaza a red zone. That restriction begins at 6 pm on August 14 and lasts until 6 pm on August 15. Officials cited Drone Rules 2021 for these temporary measures. Any unauthorized operation will lead to swift legal action. Violations fall under rules 22 and 27, making them cognizable and non-compoundable under rule 49. Operators need prior permission from competent authorities to fly in these spaces.
