Kohima Officials Must Attend Independence Day Ceremony

Kohima: Kohima Deputy Commissioner B. Henok Buchem is demanding full attendance for this year’s Independence Day. He issued a directive forcing all district Heads of Offices and Gaon Buras from Kohima Sadar to show up at the Nagaland Civil Secretariat Plaza on August 15, 2026.

Attendance is mandatory. The DC’s office released a press statement detailing the logistics for the event. Heads of Departments need to head over to the Establishment Branch of the DC’s office to grab their invitation cards and car passes.

These documents will be ready for pickup starting August 13, 2026, during normal business hours. The office did not leave room for absence, stating, "the DC directed all Heads of Offices under Kohima district and Gaon Buras under Kohima Sadar (Urban and Rural) to compulsorily attend the Independence Day celebration on August 15, 2026, at the Nagaland Civil Secretariat Plaza, Kohima."
