Kohima: The Naga Hoho 3rd Federal Assembly fired its incumbent Executive Council on July 31. The meeting took place at the Sha Complex in Tahamzam, Manipur. Leadership failed. The body cited a functional standstill for the move, invoking Article 8(1)(5) of the Yehzabo of the Naga Hoho. They needed a clean slate.
Assembly Speaker Pauheu Newme will lead the organization as Caretaker for three months. A seven-member Search Committee must now find new leadership. Former Naga Hoho President Chuba Ozukum will convene the group. Other members include UNC President Lorho, Tonyho Sumi, ZB President Ningthoudai Gonmei, and Maring Tribe Hoho leader Wairok Hangsing. The committee has three months to finish the restructuring.
The assembly also addressed a vacancy in the Assembly Secretary post. The previous representative from the Lotha Public Organization was recalled. The House stated, "The incumbent Assembly Speaker, Pauheu Newme, to oversee the affairs of the Naga Hoho as Caretaker for a period of three months." The United Naga Council must nominate a replacement to fill the empty seat quickly. Officials hope these changes restore unity and effective leadership for the Naga people.
