Itanagar: Lawmakers from Arunachal Pradesh and Nagaland met Prime Minister Narendra Modi inside Parliament to demand emergency cash. They need the money now. Death counts climbed while homes, roads, bridges, and livestock vanished under the water.
Gao confirmed that a central team previously toured the region to tally the destruction. The state governments already handed over formal reports detailing every lost asset. Officials want those figures backed by federal dollars to jumpstart restoration efforts. The situation is dire. Assam also faces heavy flooding alongside these states.
Gao spoke to reporters after the meeting. "We urged the Prime Minister to expedite the release of funds, and he has assured us that the matter will be resolved quickly," he said. Modi pledged full support from the central government to assist with rehabilitation and relief work.
