Guwahati: Union Health and Family Welfare Minister J.P. Nadda kicked off a three-day tour of the Northeast on August 4. He is evaluating health services and relief efforts in regions hammered by floods, landslides, and cloudbursts. The mission runs through August 6. Nadda aims to inspect infrastructure and meet displaced residents.
After touching down in Dibrugarh, the Minister heads to Sivasagar and Charaideo districts in Assam on August 5. He will walk through destroyed homes and ruined crops. He needs to see the relief camps firsthand. Later that day, he travels to Mon district in Nagaland. He will specifically survey damage in Defence Colony before heading back to Dibrugarh for a high-level review meeting with Assam officials regarding public health and rehabilitation.
On August 6, Nadda shifts focus to Yazali in the Keyi Panyor district of Arunachal Pradesh. Flash floods and cloudbursts wrecked roads and bridges here. He will visit local relief camps and talk to families who lost their homes. The trip wraps up with a formal review meeting involving Arunachal Pradesh state officials.
The central government maintains this tour shows their dedication to the region. Prime Minister Narendra Modi views the area as a major growth engine, having previously called it the country's "Ashtalakshmi" and a key driver of India's growth.
