Kaliabor villagers mobilize to rebuild flood-ravaged homes in Upper Assam

Guwahati: Villagers from the historic Sri Sri Borsatra institution in Nagaon district are taking action. They refuse to wait for outside help. Residents have harvested bamboo from their own lands to provide relief for families who lost everything in the state's latest deluge.

This community-led operation aims to build 30 houses across Sivasagar, Charaideo, and Jorhat. These districts took the heaviest hits during the recent flooding. The volunteers are currently transporting construction materials directly to these hit areas to start work immediately.

The Sri Sri Borsatra remains a pillar of regional heritage. Beyond preserving traditions, the group focuses on social welfare. Regarding the mission, the organizers stated: "The initiative is a community-led effort to help families who have been left without shelter after the floods destroyed their homes across several parts of the State."
