Guwahati: Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma toured flood-ravaged Darrang district on Saturday, August 8. He inspected critical embankment failures along the Noa River that left local residents under water. High water hit Outala village in Mangaldoi and Kapili Satra village in Sipajhar. These breaches devastated the local area.

Sarma evaluated the wreckage alongside government officials. He met with ministers Ashok Singhal and Nilima Devi, plus Sipajhar MLA Paramananda Rajbongshi. The team reviewed restoration efforts currently managed by the Water Resources Department. They plan to replace old walls with structures built for durability.

The government will send cash to families hit by the floods. Payments follow standard state guidelines. "The embankment breach has caused significant hardship to the people. I have come here to personally assess the situation and review the damage," Sarma told reporters at the site. The Chief Minister ordered his staff to build stronger defenses to prevent future disaster.
