Shillong: Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma sat down in Jorhat on Tuesday to check on flood damage. He scrutinized the rapid assessment survey progress for Sivasagar, Charaideo, Jorhat, and Golaghat. District commissioners, their deputies, and revenue circle officers filled the room.
Sarma wants the second phase done before October 10. He demanded full transparency from the staff. They must re-verify data to find genuine victims. No eligible family can get left behind. He also warned them to keep ineligible names off the rolls.
The government needs to speed up direct benefit transfers. Sarma ordered departments to coordinate with banks immediately. They must fix technical snags with Aadhaar-linked accounts to stop payment delays. "The first phase of the survey for assessing flood damage and providing rehabilitation assistance in the four districts has already been completed," Sarma told reporters.
The administration must now finalize the beneficiary lists. Every department needs to work together to get this cash out. The goal remains clear: deliver state support to every person hit by the water.
