Kohima: The District Youth Resources and Sports office in Mokokchung scheduled a one-day youth festival for September 23, 2026. The event aims to spotlight young talent from across the district. Individuals, cultural clubs, colleges, and higher secondary schools can enter.

Three categories define the festival: Folk Song, Folk Dance, and Declamation. Winners earn a spot in the online screening round. The top eight teams from across Nagaland move to the State Level Youth Festival in Kohima. Those headed to Kohima must report on September 28 for competitions running through September 30. All state-level participants must carry an Aadhaar card.
The folk dance event demands a traditional performance. Ballets are forbidden. Live music is mandatory for these groups of up to ten people. The guidelines state: "Teams must submit three copies of a brief note explaining the theme and song text at registration and are responsible for clearing their own sets after performing." Each act has 15 minutes to dance with five minutes for setup.
The folk song category limits performers to seven minutes of traditional regional music. Film tracks and medleys stay off the stage. Soloists competing in the declamation event will speak on "Youth, Skills and a Self-Reliant Nagaland" in Hindi or English. Each speech lasts five minutes. The government will reimburse travel and daily allowances for qualifying participants.
