Kohima: The Ao Senden rejected the latest response from the Nagaland Health and Family Welfare Department regarding staffing at Dr. Imkongliba Memorial District Hospital. The organization warned of escalating its ongoing agitation if officials fail to meet all demands by October 31, 2026. The group remains firm in its position that "nothing short of a radiologist will be acceptable at IMDH Mokokchung."
The group demands the government honor a notification from August 19, 2026, which orders the deployment of a radiologist. They questioned why the department refuses to transfer a radiologist from District Hospital Phek when the department previously ordered a senior radiologist to leave IMDH on September 7, 2026. This hypocrisy drives the current standoff.
Vice President Aowati and General Secretary Imtipokyim signed the letter sent to the Principal Director of Health and Family Welfare. Beyond the medical imaging expert, the group requires the department to return all attached doctors and nurses to their posts at the district hospital. They also demand the immediate opening of the new Block A.
The organization labeled the government's lack of action a direct challenge to their community. They stated they are ready to ramp up pressure if the deadline passes without results. The agitation continues until the state fulfills every requirement.
