Conrad Sangma to lead panel for State Chief Information Commissioner

Shillong: The Meghalaya government officially formed a high-level committee to select the new State Chief Information Commissioner. This body operates under the Right to Information Act of 2005. It oversees how the state implements transparency laws.

Chief Minister Conrad K. Sangma chairs the panel. He serves alongside Deputy Chief Minister Prestone Tynsong and Leader of the Opposition Dr. Mukul Sangma. The Governor established this group under Section 15(3) of the RTI Act.

The task is clear. They must recommend a leader for the Meghalaya State Information Commission. This statutory body handles all RTI enforcement across the state. Officials confirmed the committee mandate on October 23 in Shillong.
