Students Shut Down Noklak PWD Office Over Stalled Road Projects

Kohima: The Khiamniungan Students’ Union locked the doors of the PWD (R&B) office in Noklak on Friday. This marks the start of a staged protest. The union acted after the department failed to answer a seven-day ultimatum issued on October 12, 2026.

Students want answers about the closed Chendang Saddle Noklak-Pangsha Phase-II Road project and the Noklak-Thonoknyu road via Sanglao. Advisor Achumbemo Kikon previously raised these concerns as a starred question during the 14th House session of the 9th Nagaland Legislative Assembly. The department provided an unsatisfactory reply, according to the union.

KSU demands full disclosure on land compensation issues that stalled work. They also want the names of any groups responsible for blocking progress for four years. The union insists on seeing where the construction money went. The KSU Media Cell stated: "The union will further intensify its agitation until the department provides clear answers."

The union warned that the department holds full liability for any public trouble or incidents resulting from this silence. The standoff continues until authorities come clean.
