Kohima: The Council of Baptist Churches in North East India issued a stern warning on October 23, 2026. Fraudsters are hijacking the organization's identity. Entities operating out of R.K. Mission Road, Birubari, Assam, are using the council's name and logo to lure students into recruitment schemes. These scammers go by titles including ISO-Organisation's of US/UK Government of Central Mission and ISO-International Guwahati Christian Revival Forum.
Rev Dr Namseng R Marak, Secretary General of CBCNEI, confirmed the deception in an official notification. The group even butchered the council's name, calling it Christian Baptist Churches North East India. The real title is Council of Baptist Churches in North East India. The council maintains that any claims of partnership or endorsement by these outsiders are entirely false.
"The council emphasized that it has not entered into partnerships with external institutions for promotional recruitment in a manner that misrepresents its standing."
Registered under the Registration of Societies Act XXI of 1860, the council represents a broad coalition. Its members include the Assam Baptist Convention, Arunachal Baptist Church Council, Garo Baptist Convention, Karbi Anglong Baptist Convention, Manipur Baptist Convention, and Nagaland Baptist Church Council. Officials urge parents and students to verify all credentials directly with their administrative office at HB Road, Panbazar, Guwahati. You can call them at +91 9395362273 or +91 361 4099968. Inquiries can also go through email at [email protected] or their website at www.cbcnei.org.
